The article actualizes the relevance of the speech activity development problem among children with early childhood autism (ECA). It admits that autistic children suffer from their inability to establish social interactions, maintain contact with another person, experience difficulties in perceiving information and understanding communicative situations. The article reviews current researches on the issue. The majority of scholars approach speech activity as apeculiar quality of a child’s personality, which is manifested in independent, diverse, proactive use of speech and active speech command.
Further, the article presents the results of an experimental study conducted by the author. The study found that the speech activity of children with ECA is formed at a low level.
For preschoolers, the following patterns are characteristic: speech negativism; unstable interest in the examination; selective approach to the tasks; lack of interest in interactions; echolalia, speech clichés, autonomous speech, lack of proactive speech; unwillingness to answer or ask questions, or to correct mistakes. The article presents a program for correction and development, which aims to develop speech activity in autistic children. The focus is on the development of phonemic hearing general and fine motor skills, kinesthetic senses, facial expressions, pantomimic, spatial movements arrangements; language motor skills for the formation of the articulatory base of sounds, physiological and phonological breathing; the development of the skills for the proper use of sounds in different forms and types of speech, in all situations of communication. It is demonstrated that a series of logorhythmic exercises facilitate successful adaptation, rehabilitation, personal growth of a child, as well as their integration into society. According to the results of the correction and development measures, the level of speech activity among children with ECA increased.
