Abstract

The article is devoted to the content of the special workshop «Education of Tolerant Personality» for future primary school teachers. The tasks of workshop are the following: to reveal the essence of tolerance as a pedagogical category; content and specifics of pedagogical tolerance; to acquaint future primary school teachers with techniques of tolerant communication; to promote the formation of practical skills of tolerant communication; to show the specifics of tolerance education for primary schoolchildren in extracurricular activities; to acquaint students with the method of diagnosing the levels of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren; to promote the students’ knowledge about forms and methods of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren.

During the special workshop, the author conducted lectures («The problem of tolerance in pedagogy», «Forms and methods of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren»); integrative classes («Content and specifics of pedagogical tolerance», «Specificity of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren in extracurricular activities», «Techniques of tolerant communication», «Studying of levels of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren», «Using of game activity as a means of education of tolerance of among primary schoolchildren»).

The basic components of training of future primary school teachers for education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren are clarified as the following: cognitive (knowledge about the content and specifics of pedagogical tolerance; awareness of the need for education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren; professional development); emotional-valuable (acceptance of the child, empathic understanding; setting for tolerance in pedagogical activity in order to achieve the child’s tolerant development); behavioural-activity (mastering of forms and methods of education of tolerance among primary schoolchildren; skills of tolerant interaction; readiness for professional and personal self-development).

However, these findings provide the following insights for future research which should consider the problem of improving the effectiveness of postgraduate education on tolerance among the younger generation.
