The article presents the results of scientific work on the theoretical basis of education of the linguistic personality in the family in the multicultural environment of Ukraine. Attention is focused on the conceptual principles of education of the child as a linguistic personality in the family environment; it is proved that the family itself lays the main foundations of the formation of the linguistic personality. Historically, the family, family education, the education of the linguistic personality united and unites scholars of various scientific fields: psychology, pedagogy, linguistics, social psychology, psycholinguistics, and others.
The essence of the concept of "linguistic personality" is revealed in the context of the theory of speech activity and its constructs: language, native language, communication, types of speech activity. A generalized theoretical analysis of the concepts, works of scientists on this problem made it possible to emphasize the fact that such work in the family, with the family of all educational institutions contributes to the successful physical, mental, moral, spiritual, linguistic, intellectual development of the child and, in general, is the basis of the country's state-building processes, the affirmation of the national idea and identity.
The article substantiates the ways of formation of the linguistic personality in the family; content components of speech personality (personal, culturological, value); the role of the native (mother) language in this process; functions of speech (communication, thinking, accumulation and preservation of knowledge, emotional, identification and other functions).
The scientific search made it possible to distinguish the leading forms of work of the family, preschool educational institutions and schools in the formation of the linguistic personality: the formation of a child's ability to listen, speak, read, write; combine various activities: cognitive, work, play, educational, artistic, visual, speech-game; to create conditions for productive communicative speech activity of children. This work is pedagogically and scientifically, methodically secured and contributes to the development of intelligence, the culture of speech and the high general culture of the individual, which is an indicator of morality, spirituality and culture in general.
