ESSENCE AND FEATURES OF UKRAINIAN PLATFORMS FOR MASS OPEN ONLINE COURSES (MOOC)

Abstract

The role of Ukrainian mass open online courses in the organization of the system of distance education in the conditions of quarantine has been analyzed. The author characterized popular Ukrainian online education platforms: Online University, Prometheus, EdEra, Education online, EDUGET, VUM online, LINGVA SKILLS, Kyiv Educational Hub, Brainbasket, and others.

Based on the analysis of the most popular Ukrainian platforms for mass open online courses the essential characteristics, features of the MOOC, their benefits, and disadvantages have been identified.

There have been defined some features of Ukrainian educational platforms for mass open online courses: multimedia content that improves the quality of learning material using the auditory and visual receptors of participants in the educational process; control access to resources, which greatly simplifies the work of the teacher at the expense of automatic sign-ups, e-journals, etc. that require automatic verification a large number of test tasks; such platforms provide simplified management training, the possibility of administrative monitoring in relevant documents, etc.

Advantages of MOOK: a huge variety of programs and courses, a fair amount of expenses education comfortable learning conditions, flexibility, the use of a variety of educational content in courses, communication in open discussions on the site and ample opportunities to concentrate, the collaboration, additional education, advanced training, the absence of any restrictions , expanding educational opportunities for people with special needs, focus on innovative futuristic areas.

Disadvantages of MOOK: the system excludes an individual approach to the student, problems with motivation, excess and randomness of educational information, there is the problem of plagiarism, academic integrity, identification of the applicant, the quality of the assessment system, the lack of qualified human resources, the problem of recognizing the certificate of successful completion of an online course by universities and employers.
