PECULIARITIES OF EMPATHY FORMATION IN CHILDREN WITH SPEECH DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS

Abstract

The article analyzes the studied problem in the psychological and the pedagogical literature, determines the essence and content of the concept "empathy". Peculiarities of empathy development in children with speech development disorders have been revealed. The level of empathy in preschoolers with general speech underdevelopment of the third level and in children with typical speech development has been diagnosed. The results of methodologies for determining all components of empathy (emotional, cognitive, and behavioral) showed that the level of empathy in children with typical development is higher than the level of children with speech disorders. Also, healthy children are dominated by the humanistic type of empathy, and children with speech disorders — egocentric.

It has been created and experimentally tested the effectiveness of correctional and developmental work on of empathy forming in preschool children with level III of general speech underdevelopment by means of psychological training. The objective of the empathy development program was to prevent aggression; formation of a positive moral position, creating of empathic attitudes, etc. Correctional and developmental work was based on analysis, discussion (empathic listening, dialogic communication), new play (play-dramatization), awareness of one's own empathic reactions and features of other people’s empathic attitudes (interpretation of another person’s inner world) while watching fragments of videos, discussion empathic situations. The effectiveness of the program was proved at the control stage of the study.
