Abstract

The article deals with the problem of language and literary education of preschool children.  The author’s views on the content of language and literature education for graduates of preschool education institutions are highlighted. The positive influence of fiction on the development of children’s creative speech is characterized. The author's definition of the concept of ”speech competence” is presented: it is an acquired integrated personality quality of a child who is fluent in the Ukrainian language, easily and casually enters into communication with adults and children; supports the conversation according to the situation, understanding of the topic and interest; appropriately uses speech and non-speech means of expression; knows how to regulate the power of the voice, the pace of speech, use the means of intonation expressiveness, knows the formulas of speech etiquette; has monologic speech. The definitions of the concepts “artistic and speech competence” and “artistic and speech activity” are disclosed; the content of the phenomenon “linguistic and literary education of preschool children”, forms, methods, means of working with books in the “space of children's books” werev also characterized; the content of the educational direction “Child's Speech” in BCPO regarding to the formation of various types of competences in children is disclosed.
