EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES OF LYCEUM STUDENTS

The article is devoted to the study of the educational potential of volunteer activities of lyceum students. It was determined that volunteering is a relatively new phenomenon in the activities of general educational institutions. It has been established that volunteering is a voluntary selfless socially beneficial activity; one of the forms of charity and one of the foundations of civil society; a way of supporting, caring for, and providing assistance to members of the community; interaction between people for the joint development of new ways of solving problems that arise. Volunteer work is carried out in an educational institution after school hours and is aimed at nurturing such socially significant qualities in a growing personality as patriotism, dignity, responsibility, mercy, initiative; formation of humane consciousness, positive and constructive interpersonal and intragroup interaction between students by means of benevolent group activities. It was found out that volunteering develops social, civic and emotional skills, which are key to the concept of the New Ukrainian School. These competencies are necessary for effective and constructive participation in public life, in the family and at work. Volunteering helps to develop communication competence: schoolchildren learn to express their position, accept the arguments of others, and have a discussion.

The tasks of a modern educational institution are to educate patriots, citizens active in building a successful and democratic Ukrainian society; to draw the attention of schoolchildren to the problems solving which: a) they can already be involved in; b) not so much material costs as mental efforts are enough; help to see those around you who need help, etc.

The volunteer activity of education seekers is aimed at patriotic education, reflects its diversity, the spirituality of the Ukrainian people, and the level of motivation for charitable causes.

Examples of volunteer activities at Rivne Lyceum № 15 are given, namely: charity fair; collection of warm things, treats, hygiene products, dry fuel, postcards, books; making trench candles, etc.
