Abstract

The article reveals the peculiarities of the formation and development of pre-school education in the 18th-20th centuries in the following countries: the USA, England, Belgium, Austria-Hungary, Switzerland. It is noted that in different countries of the world they had certain regularities, common features and differences and were built up under the influence of many factors. Among the foreign educational systems at the end of the 19th century the greatest influence was the F. Frebel’s system, at the beginning of the 20th century- M. Montessori’s system. The formation of public preschool education in Ukraine took place regard to the global “pre-school movement”, under the influence of foreign experience. At the beginning of the 20th century in many countries of the world there was a fairly extensive network of educational establishments for preschool children, considerable organizational experience was accumulated, certain theoretical and methodical approaches were determined. The study and concretization of this influence is a promising direction for further historical and pedagogical exploration.
