THE USE OF AUTHENTIC VIDEO MATERIALS AS A MEANS OF FORMING FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE FOR PROSPECTIVE ENGLISH TEACHERS IN THE PROCESS OF DISTANCE LEARNING

The article investigates the effectiveness of using authentic video materials for the development of future English teachers' foreign language communicative competence in the process of distance learning. Different classifications of video materials are considered. The article analyses the positive aspects of using authentic video materials in teaching English, in particular, their impact on the development of listening comprehension skills, oral and written communication, reading, pronunciation, learning grammatical structures and new vocabulary, and the formation of a culture of speech of higher education students. The article considers possible difficulties in using authentic video materials in the process of distance learning of English (language complexity, accessibility and technical limitations, teacher training, etc.) and suggests ways to overcome them.

The article investigates the methodology of using video materials in remote conditions and their role in intensifying the educational process, increasing motivation and interest of higher education students in learning English. Different activities are offered for each stage of using authentic video materials in the process of distance learning for future English teachers (selection of authentic video materials, preparatory stage before viewing, viewing, post-viewing, working with a dictionary, reflection and self-assessment). The results emphasize the importance of integrating authentic video materials into virtual learning in order to achieve better success in developing future teachers’ EFL communicative competence.
