In the article the peculiarities of the development of future teachers’ communication skills in professional activity in psychological literature are analyzed; the main methods of communicative self-education as a means of organizing activities, principles of communication organization are characterized; the functions of communication in relation to the conditions and factors of human activity in psychological science are substantiated. The thesis that the effectiveness of professional and pedagogical communication of a teacher depends on the level of formation of her communicative culture is substantiated.
The natural basis of communication culture is human sociability. Communication needs can be conditioned: an attempt to relieve internal tension and anxiety; a desire to receive approval, recognition of one’s uniqueness and uniqueness from others; clarification (confirmation) of one’s ideas about another person, their abilities and qualities; a desire to actively influence the direction of another person's thoughts; a manifestation of care for another, altruism.
It is proved that the diagnostics of the level of students’ communication skills as a professionally significant ability contributes to: comprehensive development; self-improvement; desire to learn throughout life; understanding of information and communication processes; the ability to apply what has been learnt in professional activities; to improve professional skills; to apply the acquired knowledge in managerial and everyday practice.
