MODERN TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING LANGUAGES: THE INFLUENCE ON LANGUAGE EDUCATION

The article highlights the importance of learning languages and modern technologies by specialists. It explores the significance of digital competence in modern educational process, defining it as the ability to use digital tools to enhance learning effectiveness and raises a range of issues related to the use of innovative and immersive technologies in education. Some foreign and Ukrainian scientists and their works are mentioned. The author highlights several contemporary technological achievements in the field of education, such as interactive online platforms, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, interactive online tools, massive open online courses (MOOC), electronic textbooks and adaptive learning systems. Among the modern language learning technologies, the author points out such applications as Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, Babbel, Memrise, Busuu, HelloTalk and Anki, examining their advantages and disadvantages. Virtual learning tools such as Augmented Reality, VR Language Learning, Language Exchange VR Sessions, and Virtual Classroom are proposed for consideration. It is pointed out that their aim is to make the learning process more engaging and interesting. Towards the end of the article, the author identifies potential drawbacks that could make the language learning process ineffective. Emphasis is placed on the importance of selecting a program based on individual needs, learning style, and learners` capabilities. The author also tells that digital tools are developing quicker than the users that makes the last know the process of operating such tools rather than learn all of them. It is suggested to test the trial of multiple programs to choose the one that best aligns with users’ requirements. In addition, one of the main things to take into account is that no tools will replace live communication and interaction.
