Abstract

The article provides an overview of works devoted to research into the effectiveness of using Internet blogs in teaching foreign languages. The definition of an Internet blog is given. The article provides some theoretical justification for the use of Internet blogs in an educational context. The results of scientific research on the use of Internet blogs to improve the cultural competence of students, as well as the effectiveness of using Internet blogs for developing reading and speaking skills in a foreign language are considered. The author reviews various studies of blogs usage in cultural and communication aspects in the target language, as well as a tool for developing basic skills such as speaking and reading. It is worth noting that the small amount of research conducted on the impact of blogging on speaking skills indicates that it is an effective tool for developing brainstorming, self-presentation and information sharing skills. At the same time, the same studies found that blogs have no effect on improving speech fluency, accuracy in expressing thoughts and correct pronunciation.

It is emphasized that the use of blogs in teaching foreign languages contributes to the acquisition of cultural knowledge and makes it possible to become better acquainted with the culture of the language environment. Research shows that through blogs, students acquire cultural knowledge and have the opportunity to explore the culture of the target language.

At the same time, the author notes that when using audio blogs, there were no significant positive changes in terms of increasing speech fluency, improving pronunciation or accuracy in expressing thoughts. Research shows that the use of blogs plays an important role in promoting interaction among students themselves, as well as between teachers and students.

The implementation of blog technologies in the educational space, in particular in the process of teaching foreign languages, contributes to the effective solution of issues in optimizing of the educational process organization.

The creation of network content by students is a very important activity that requires its inclusion in educational programs and the allocation of an additional number of hours.
