In the article on the basis of the realized theoretical research the pedagogical essence of the definition of “educational environment” is revealed. The definition of the concept “educational environment” proposed by the researchers of this phenomenon is analyzed. It was found out that nowadays the concept “educational environment” is marked the natural or artificial environment of participants in the educational process in the educational space, which includes the content and various types of educational means that can provide productive creative activity of the individual, his educational development, pedagogical conditions, situations, system mutual relations between persons, united commonality of pedagogical and educational activity. The essential content of the concept “educational environment” is determined. It has been proved that the educational environment has qualitative characteristics, its own environmental factors and a multilevel structure with vertical interrelationships between levels. The main models, features, structure and components of the educational environment as a pedagogical phenomenon are characterized.
