АКТУАЛІЗАЦІЯ ПОГЛЯДІВ ВИДАТНИХ УКРАЇНСЬКИХ ПЕДАГОГІВ ЩОДО РОЛІ КНИГИ ТА ЧИТАННЯ У ВИХОВАННІ ОСОБИСТОСТІ

The article deals with the crisis of reading in Ukraine. The ideas of well-known Ukrainian educators on the role of books and reading in the education of the child's personality are accentuated in the article. It is noted that well-known Ukrainian teachers K. Ushynskyi, H. Alchevska, S. Rusova, B. Hrinchenko, A. Makarenko, V. Sukhomlynskyi paid great attention to cognitive and educational possibilities of book. They believed that books for children use not only for the development of speech, memory, imagination, attention, but they also expand knowledge about the world and the activity of people in it. In particular, K. Ushynsky stressed the need to educate children from early childhood skills and abilities of independent conscious reading. S. Rusova highlighted the effective methods of developing the child’s speech: reading stories, tales, dramatization and staging of fiction. A. Makarenko advised children to read good tales, which continue the energy of confidence in their abilities.

Updating the views of prominent Ukrainian educators will not only enrich the modern teacher with interesting information, but will also allow to effectively use the best examples of the experience of these teachers, which, in turn, will increase the importance of the role of the book and reading in the process of forming the personality of the child.
