This article provides a theoretical justification for the specific features of developing communicative competence in future economics teachers in the context of higher education transformation. The relevance of this study stems from the processes of digitalization, globalization, and modernization of the educational environment, which raise the bar for teachers’ professional training, particularly regarding their level of communicative readiness. Scientific approaches to interpreting the concept of “communicative competence” as an integrative personality trait that ensures effective pedagogical interaction are analyzed. The feasibility of developing it based on competency-based, person-centered, activity-based, and communicative approaches is substantiated.
The structure of communicative competence of future economics teachers is defined, which includes motivational-value, cognitive, operational-activity, and reflective components. Their content and significance in the process of professional training are revealed. The impact of higher education transformation on the development of communicative competence is examined, specifically the role of the digitalization of the educational process, the use of LMS, blended and distance learning, the development of academic mobility, and soft skills.
The conditions for developing communicative competence are outlined, including: creating a communication-rich educational environment, integrating professional and pedagogical disciplines, using interactive teaching methods and digital tools, as well as encouraging reflection and self-development among students. It is emphasized that the effective development of communicative competence in future economics teachers ensures their readiness for professional activity in the context of the modern educational environment.
