REFLECTION OF V. O. SUKHOMLYNSKYI’S IDEAS IN THE CONCEPT OF THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL

The article compares the pedagogical ideas of Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi with the Concept of the New Ukrainian School. The teacher’s ideas, scientific and methodological developments, and practical experience are relevant at the present stage of fundamental transformations in education. The development of society sets new goals and objectives for education. Therefore, Ukrainian education is on the verge of reforming and modernising the modern school. The Concept of the New Ukrainian School is one of the key documents for the successful implementation of education reform in Ukraine.

The concept of the New Ukrainian School proclaims the preservation of the values of childhood, the need to humanise education, the need for a personal approach, the development of students' abilities, and the creation of a learning environment that provides psychological comfort and promotes children's creativity. The basis of the concept of an outstanding teacher is respect and trust for the child, recognition of his or her uniqueness and right to make his or her own choice. This idea is relevant to the reform of Ukrainian education.

The New Ukrainian School (NUS) is a key reform of the Ministry of Education and Science. The main goal is to create a school where children will learn through activities “that will be enjoyable to learn and that will give students not only knowledge but also the ability to apply it in everyday life”. It is a school where students are listened to, taught to think critically, not to be afraid to express their own opinions and to be responsible citizens, and where cooperation and mutual understanding prevail.

The article reveals the formula of the New Ukrainian School, shows the relevance of implementing ideas in a modern school, such as focusing on the student's personality, interaction between school and family, and professional development of teachers.
