The interpretation of concept “discipline” in psychological and pedagogical literatures is revealed in the article.It was found out that with the adoption of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School, the problem of school discipline and discipline did not lose relevance, and a proactive approach to discipline and the introduction of rules were called important components of effective class management.

It has been substantiated that the rules for students was not rejected, however, the approach to their development, implementation and compliance is transformed. The recommendations on the creation of rules and their implementation in the practice that are demonstrate of expectations for the student’s behavior and ensure their informed compliance are characterized. The principles of respond to minor of violations that are valid according in the concept of a New Ukrainian school are offered.

It is concluded that a proactive approach to discipline that involves the unity of the behavioral aspects, security and willpower of the personality, as well as the implementation of the new rules will be contribute to the discipline as moral-volitional qualities of personality
