The article deals with the analysis of the heritage of the outstanding scientist Oleksii Ukhtomskyi, whose philosophical and worldview concept of individual not only sums up the accumulated knowledge and the results obtained, but also determines the prospects for the further development of the integrated science of an individual. It is proved in the article that his doctrine of the dominant belongs to both physiology and psychology and philosophy, and also provided a number of ideas of Cybernetics and Synergetics. The author characterized the role of the dominant theory in the development of physiology and psychology: O. Ukhtomskyi agreed it with the fundamental issues of human existence and knowledge, his personal social essence; he spread the theory to the most complex forms of mental reflection of reality and spiritual life of the individual and recognized it as a powerful system – creating factor in the complex scientific description of the most complex living system - man. It is found that O. Ukhtomskyi developed a coherent human conception, based on a new synthetic approach to human nature, at the junction of natural-scientific and humanitarian knowledge, which enabled the scientist to organically link the natural scientific ideas about human behavior and the human psyche with the laws of human moral behavior in the world, bringing the content and meaning of human life beyond its purely physiological, natural limits. It is revealed a qualitatively new understanding of the category “environment" in the context of culture, united both the individual inner world and the collective unconscious, named by O. Ukhtomskyi as “experience of parents”.It is proved in the article that the dominant theory can be used in such applied fields as labor psychology, sports psychology, medical psychology, pedagogical psychology etc.
