THE SYSTEM OF EXTRACURRICULAR EDUCATION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF RIVNE REGION IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY

The article states that out-of-school  education is an integral part of the education system in Ukraine. It is established that the modern system of out-of-school education includes state, municipal, private institutions; clubs, sections, clubs, cultural and educational, sports and health, scientific and research associations based on institutions of general secondary education; clubs and associations at the place of residence. Based on the analysis of archival sources, the system of out-of-school education of Rivne region is outlined.

It is determined that, beginning from the 50s of the 20 century, new out-of-school educational institutions (pioneer houses, music schools, art schools, stations of young technicians, etc.) were opened in the region every year, where clubs of different profiles worked. The most popular were art circles, in particular: artistic word, dramatic, choral, musical (wind, string, folk instruments), dance, ballroom, artistic embroidery, photo circles, sculptors, carpenters, fine arts, puppet theaters, etc. It is established that at the end of the 60’s of the 20th century in  Rivne region there were 18 Pioneer Palaces in nineteen settlements of the region and music schools were opened in Rivne, Dubno, Ostro, Sarny, Berezno, Volodymyrets, Dubrovytsia. At the end of the 60’s of the 20th century a wide network of music schools covered almost all district centers of Rivne region. Out-of-school education institutions performed a number of functions, the main of which was the active involvement of children in creativity, instilling in them initiative. In general, out-of-school education institutions were a kind of centers designed to fill students' extracurricular time, their active self-development, self-determination, self-realization and self-affirmation, development of self-awareness and socialization in the children's collective.
