The article is devoted to the analysis of the pedagogical heritage of the famous Ukrainian scientist Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi on the problem of emotional and spiritual child development. The problem of emotional and spiritual child development is one of the central in the pedagogical heritage of the scientist. As a result of emotional development, according to the scientist’s ultimatism, namely high moral and ethical feelings and spiritual orientation of the child's life should be formed. We believe that the core and effective component of the emotional content of the child's personality and behavior is definitely the general emotional state. The presence of a positive emotional state depends on the emotional feeling and perception of the child's educational influences of the teacher and the environment. Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi considered the emotional development as an integrated phenomenon, the components of which are: emotional states, emotional feelings and perceptions, emotional attitude, emotional empathy in relationships with others, emotional situations, emotional stimuli, emotional evaluation, and self-esteem, emotional sensitivity, emotional culture. While investigating we understand emotional and spiritual development as an acquired qualitative characteristic of the individual, which involves the assimilation of universal human values (moral, ethical, aesthetic, special-civic) self-acceptance, self identity "I" in relation to the universe, with other people, embodiment and the realization of acquired values in their behavior, their spiritual actions. Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi identified and revealed the factors of child emotional state development: surprise, wonder, admiration, joy, kindness, beauty. All the factors of emotional and spiritual child development in unity can be combined into a generalized concept of "emotional culture". Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi understood the spiritual development of a child as his spiritual life, as the education of the child's soul and heart, his cordiality, sincerity, humanity, respect and love for man, to live and act for others, to share joy and sorrow with them. The Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi’s pedagogical works were formulated according to received data - "Pedagogical Commandments for Young Teachers".
