SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TEXTBOOK ON GEOMETRY FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS

The article activates one of the current problems of education - the problem of the quality of school textbooks.

Mathematics is a mandatory subject of external independent assessment and state final certification, the tasks of which require certain competencies to pass the exams. The competency approach of the mathematics curriculum requires the updating of school textbooks. Examination and selection of textbooks by teachers, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, creates competition, which makes it possible to improve their quality.

In this article we present the generalized conclusions of the scientific and methodical analysis of the textbook on geometry by O. Ister and O. Yergina for the 11th grade of the profile level. The content of the textbook was analyzed: its compliance with the State Standard; systematic, logical, accessible and scientific content; ensuring the formation of competencies on cross-cutting lines by means of the textbook specified in the curriculum in mathematics; implementation of value and Ukrainian studies components; availability of differentiated and individual approach; the presence of factual errors.

The result of the analysis made it possible to state that the studied textbook meets all the criteria of scientific and methodological examination approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
