THE ORTHODOX CHURCH OF VOLYN AS AN ORGANIZER OF THE PRIMARY LINK OF SCHOOLING (XIX – BEGINNING OF XX CENTURY)

The article substantiates the general foundations of the organization and development of the content of education in the system of Orthodox schooling in Volyn in the XIX – at the beginning of the XX century, formed under the influence of socio-religious, socio-political, socio-cultural factors. The specifics of the process of organization and development of the content of education in the parish / publicschools of the Volyn province by the Orthodox clergy of the region under the influence of educational reforms of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century are outlined. The main problems in the organization of the activity of parish public schools in the region are identified - sporadic, unregulated deployment of the network of primary parish schooling under the auspices of the Orthodox clergy. The content of education was concentrated exclusively around the study of the basics of Orthodoxy and the content of worship, with a small addition in the form of arithmetic and history of the Russian Empire. The implementation of this content of education fully complied with the same formula proclaimed in the early nineteenth century – “Orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality”. The main factors of such unregulation are difficulties with the financing of public schools, problems with the provision of supplies and basic textbooks, as well as teachers - representatives of the local clergy, who would have a proper level of professional training for teaching in the parish school system.
