EDUCATIONAL IDEAS OF TRANSCARPATHIA (20-30s OF THE 20th CENTURY)

The article argues the importance of studying the activities that
Transcarpathian writers were performing in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. Such
findings make it possible to obtain reliable information about the formation and
development of our state. This article highlights the important aspects in the
development of education in Transcarpathia at that time which are not so often
discussed by pedagogical science today, notwithstanding their relevance today. At the
current stage when the idea of the national education is being under scrutiny,
reformers heavily rely on the study of the historical past on the one hand, and the
study of the personalities who encouraged the public to solve the outlined tasks on
the other. Ukraine, choosing independence from the russian invaders as the main way
to survive, turns to the historical past, the search for values, experiences that will
enable the education to instill the values of national consciousness, and thus
consolidate the modern Ukrainian society. Consequently, the problem of social and
educational activities of writers working in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century in
Transcarpathia needs to be studied. The emphasis is placed on the investigation how
writers-educators interacted with various social groups of the Ukrainian society in
that period, including workers, the peasantry, and the intelligentsia. The article also
accentuates the fact that the Ukrainian fiction in Transcarpathia of the 20s and 30s in
the 20th century also underwent significant development and a national renaissance.
It became a bright authentic, page in the literary process that uniquely describes
Ukrainian and European experience, contributing to the spread of national ideas and
cultural values. It is noted that the literary works of that time are distinguished by
their originality and high artistic level, which makes them an important part of both
the Ukrainian and the European literary heritage.
