The publication describes the monographic and reference publication of the Rivne author Serhii Vytkalov, which for the first time provides a thorough analysis of the founding and development of the Department of Event Industries, Cultural Studies and Museum Studies of Rivne State University of the Humanities in historical retrospect.
The author analyzes the methodology of scientific research, which is based on general scientific methods of obtaining information, including the method of historical reconstruction, analysis and synthesis; the biographical method is separately outlined, with the help of which the author managed to reconstruct the main directions of formation and development of only one educational structure - the department through the prism of the activities of its teaching staff and its educators.
In the monograph it is used the traditional form of determining the effectiveness of the collective’s functioning, – the Chronicle of Events, and a short commentary on it significantly expands the reader’s understanding of the potential of the regional cultural space and the effectiveness of its functioning, and focuses on individual figures.
It is proved that in the monograph it is used significant source material to identify and characterize the main stages of the department’s development, the leading areas of its activity and the problems that the staff worked to solve were outlined.
It was found that the advantage of a peer-reviewed study is its thorough appendices, which add more convincing and credibility to the analyzed work.
The article identifies the possibilities of using peer-reviewed work by research and teaching staff and higher education students to create similar local histories, the study of which will subsequently create a full-fledged history of higher cultural or humanitarian education in Ukraine as a whole.
