The article, based on the analysis of modern psychological and pedagogical scientific approaches, fundamental scientific works, and research results, reveals the essence and specificity of interdisciplinary integration of professional training of future pharmacists in higher medical education institutions aimed at forming their health-saving competence. The key principles of the interdisciplinary integration process in the professional training of future pharmacists are identified and characterised as follows: the integration of content and methodology from medical, natural, humanitarian, and social sciences, along with modern technologies – particularly in formation and mathematical tools – into a single holistic system; the combination of forms, methods, and means of formal, non-formal, informal, and dual education in a logically unified framework; the application of cognitive and social technologies, as well as knowledge transfer; the development of health-saving competence; the formation of holistic scientific and strictly professional thinking; and the initiation and implementation of various educationally or socially significant projects, research, development, and design activities. In the theoretical and applied aspects, the essence of interdisciplinary integration in the professional training of future pharmacists is characterised based on the following scientific approaches: multidisciplinary, pluridisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. The article describes the essence of internal, vertical, horizontal, and universal interdisciplinary integration of professional training of future pharmacists in higher medical education institutions.
