PREPARING FUTURE SOCIAL WORKERS TO PROVIDE EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES

The article comprehensively examines the role of a social worker within an interdisciplinary early intervention team, particularly highlighting their key functions – coordinating, consultative, and supportive. It is determined that the social worker serves as a crucial link, ensuring the comprehensiveness, coordination, and effectiveness of service provision to young children with developmental disabilities and their families. The current requirements for training future social workers in higher education institutions are analyzed, and the need to integrate solid theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and personal readiness for family-centered interaction in an interdisciplinary environment is emphasized. The importance of modernizing educational programs through the inclusion of specialized disciplines covering early intervention, inclusion, child development diagnostics, assessment of social needs of families, as well as the organization of interagency cooperation is substantiated. The results of the analysis of scientific research by leading Ukrainian and foreign specialists devoted to the formation and development of the early intervention system, issues of supporting families raising children with special educational needs, and methods of early diagnosis of developmental disorders are summarized. It is emphasized that effective training of social workers is a key factor in ensuring quality social support, implementing an interdisciplinary model of service provision, and promoting the social integration of children with developmental disabilities.
