FORMATION OF THE ETHICAL COMPONENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS’ PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY ON HUMANISTIC PRINCIPLES

The article presents a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the formation of the ethical component in the professional activity of law enforcement officers within the framework of humanistic values and moral imperatives. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing societal demand for the moral integrity, responsibility, and humanistic orientation of law enforcement personnel in the context of democratic state-building and the protection of human rights. The ethical component is conceptualized as a complex system of moral principles, normative regulations, and value orientations that determine the professional conduct of law enforcement officers and govern their interaction with citizens, colleagues, and social institutions.

The structural model of the ethical component of professional activity is delineated to include cognitive (moral knowledge), affective (moral feelings), axiological (moral convictions), and behavioral (ethical conduct) dimensions. The research identifies and classifies the main determinants influencing the formation of ethical competence among law enforcement officers—social, institutional, psychological, and pedagogical. Special emphasis is placed on the mechanisms and pedagogical conditions that ensure the effective internalization of ethical norms both during the process of professional education and throughout practical service.

Through the application of humanistic and axiological approaches, the study elucidates the essence of the humanistic foundations of professional ethics, which rest upon the recognition of the individual as the highest social value and the unconditional respect for human dignity, honor, and freedom. It is substantiated that the development of the ethical dimension of professional activity requires an integrative educational environment that combines humanistically oriented professional training, a positive moral and psychological climate within law enforcement teams, a system of ethical mentorship, continuous self-improvement, and the cultivation of ethical leadership.

It is concluded that the ethical component constitutes a fundamental indicator of professional culture and competence in law enforcement. It ensures the equilibrium between the exercise of power and respect for human dignity, reinforces the moral foundations of official conduct, and facilitates the implementation of the principles of justice, humanism, and legality as the core values of a democratic society.
