Abstract

Taking into concederation the concept of “Education for Physical Recreation” by Czajkowski, the goals of education related to recreational activities are defined. Stimulating interests, shaping attitudes, introducing various forms of recreation, and developing skills and habits of active leisure are highlightedamong these goals. Education for recreation is seen as a creative process that involves forming ideas and planning, emphasizing that this approach requires continuous, creative actions enriched with elements of independence. Cultivating recreational skills and habits is considered crucial during childhood and adolescence so that individuals enter adulthood already possessing these qualities.

Viewing the educational process as an art of personality formation, its value is emphasized when it fulfils its task; otherwise, it may become routine, yielding minimal or no effects. Education for physical recreation is envisioned to encompass the family, school, and local environment. Families are encouraged to introduce various activities as a regular part of a child's upbringing, with a focus on physical activity within the broader context of well-being.

Simultaneously, the school's task is to prepare the younger generation for both work and leisure, directing them toward intelligent use of free time, active recreation, and participation in recreation and tourism. This involves imparting knowledge, arousing the need for self-realization, ensuring organizational conditions, and encouraging students' physical activity.

The concept of "Education for Recreation" within physical education remains ambitious. Therefore, extending the school's role beyond the classroom, acting as a community coordinator for promoting physical culture, is encouraged. It is crucial to inspire the local community through extracurricular education institutions, workplaces, and recreational-sports centers to promote various leisure models. This effort is expected to provide recreational and sports education programs through workshops, courses, and training sessions.

Modern goals of physical recreation include satisfying the need for movement, balancing the daily energy balance of the human body, improving physical fitness, and deriving pleasure and satisfaction from physical effort. Given the growing threats in contemporary life, such as noise, an accelerated pace, and deteriorating hygiene (sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity, insufficient sleep, fatigue, addictions), recreation becomes an essential element of life.
