This article examines the characteristics of preparing future primary school teachers for professional practice through the elective course «Family Education of Primary School Students» offered at the bachelor’s level of higher education. The course is characterized by a structured and integrated curriculum, which effectively combines theoretical and practical components of teacher training. It fosters the development of academic, socio-personal, and professional competencies essential for specialists in the 013 Primary Education program.
The substantive content of two modules of the academic discipline: «Theoretical Aspects of Raising Children in the Family» and «Practical Aspects of Raising Primary School-Age Children in the Family» has been disclosed.
The following forms of educational activities are presented to ensure the formation of readiness for future professional activities in future primary school teachers: problem-based lectures, visualization lectures; pair and small-group work, dialogues, discussions, case studies, analysis of real-life situations, implementation of research projects related to traditions and innovations in raising children in Ukrainian families; viewing and discussing video clips relevant to the subject matter of the academic discipline. Methods of educational activity include: explanatory-reproductive, partially exploratory, and problem-based methods (each dominating at a specific stage of explanation), as well as video methods (which enable thorough review and full familiarization with necessary educational material, used for reading, revision, consolidation, analysis, and assessment of new material).
It has been proven that the academic discipline contributes to the formation of future primary school teachers’ readiness for professional activities, as it provides them with theoretical knowledge and modern technologies and methods for organizing family education of young school-aged children.
